Verified status, performance, battery life and the best settings for Farever (not forever) on Valve's handheld.
Current Steam Deck Status
Playable — not yet Verified
Farever has Valve's Playable rating on Steam Deck. The full Verified badge is blocked by two known issues, both on the EA roadmap to fix: default text scaling below the 9pt minimum, and a tutorial that does not auto-prompt for controller input.

Why Farever isn't Steam Deck Verified yet
Two specific issues are flagged by Valve:
- Default text scale < 9pt — readable, but below Valve's Verified threshold for Deck's 7-inch screen. Workaround: bump UI scale to 110% in Settings.
- Tutorial controller prompts — the first-time-user tutorial uses keyboard glyphs even on a controller. Cosmetic but flagged.
Both are minor. The actual gameplay experience on Deck is excellent once you adjust the UI scale.
Battery optimisation tips
- Cap FPS at 30 — saves 25% battery vs uncapped
- TDP 12W — saves another 15% with negligible performance cost
- Lower brightness — Deck's screen draws meaningful power
- Disable cloud sync if you have a stable connection elsewhere — Farever auto-saves are server-side anyway
- Avoid 4-player dungeons on the road — they're the worst case for Deck thermals
Farever Deck vs ROG Ally / Legion Go
Farever runs better on the ROG Ally and Legion Go (both have stronger APUs) — expect 45–60 FPS at 800p with the same settings. Battery life on those handhelds is shorter however. Steam Deck remains the most balanced handheld experience for Farever in the EA build.
FAQ — Farever Steam Deck
Is Farever Steam Deck Verified?
No, not yet. As of May 2026, Farever has Valve's "Playable" rating, not the full Verified badge. Two known issues are blocking Verified: default text scaling below the 9pt minimum, and tutorial UI that does not auto-prompt for controller input.
What FPS does Farever run on Steam Deck?
Roughly 30–40 FPS at 800p with Medium presets in solo play. Drops to 25–30 FPS in 4-player dungeons. SSD streaming is the bottleneck, not the GPU.
How long is the Steam Deck battery on Farever?
About 2.5 hours at default TDP. Capping the FPS to 30 and TDP to 12W extends this to ~3 hours.
Best Farever Steam Deck settings?
Medium graphics preset · FSR 2.0 Quality upscaling · Texture Streaming Medium · 30 FPS cap · TDP 12W. This balances visual quality and ~3-hour battery life.
Can you play Farever co-op on Steam Deck?
Yes. Co-op works fine on Deck — it's the same client. The only catch is the FPS dip in 4-player dungeons; cap to 30 FPS for stability.
Does Farever support touch controls on Deck?
No. Farever is controller-and-keyboard only. The default Deck button mapping is configured for the basic moveset, but you'll want to customize for weapon-swap quickslots.
