Farever Companion Guide

Companions in Farever are non-combat critter pets that follow you around the world. Earn them through the Catch a Companion quest line and rare drops. Different from Ranger combat pets — these are cosmetic / emote-driven only.

What is a Farever companion?

Companions are pet-like critters that follow your character. They do not fight, but they emote, sit, react to the world and unlock cosmetic dialogue. Earned via the companion quest chain, not from random drops.

How to unlock companions

Complete the Catch a Companion side quest from the Skyover town board (recommended level 6+). Buy a Capture Net (5 gold) from the Hunter NPC, then capture a wild critter near the south coast. This unlocks your companion slot.

How to catch a companion

Approach within ~10 metres of a wild critter with the Capture Net equipped → throw the net (default keybind: F). Critters flee if you sprint, so walk-approach is mandatory. Success rate is roughly 70% on first throw, 100% on second.

Companion locations

Skyover south coast (basic critters) · Skyover eastern cliffs (rare blue-feather hawk, Gotta Catch One quest) · Skyover docks (H. Catchum quest unique) · Skyover broken windmill at night (Hidden Critter — requires Bug Net). More locations are planned for the Autumn region during EA.

Companions vs Ranger combat pets

Two separate systems. Ranger combat pets fight at your side and scale with the Ranger talent tree. Companions do not fight and can be used by any class. You can have one companion + one combat pet active at the same time.

FAQ — Farever companions

How many companions can I have? — One active at a time, but you can rotate any captured companion from the stable UI. Are there missable companions? — The H. Catchum unique variant is gated behind a one-time wave defence; the quest is repeatable on alts. Do companions level up? — No, they are purely cosmetic in EA.
